AUTO21 Annual General Meeting

AUTO21 held its 8th Annual General Meeting Thursday afternoon in Toronto, Ontario. During the meeting, the Board of Directors discussed and approved multiple changes to the membership of the Network for the upcoming year.

Dr. John Mann, retired Director of Engineering and Regulatory Affairs for Chrysler Canada, has concluded his term as Chair of the AUTO21 Board of Directors but will remain on the Board for another two years. Replacing Dr. Mann is Mr. Gerald Fedchun, President of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association (APMA). Mr. Fedchun was elected the Chair of the Board for the upcoming term and is also the Chair of the AUTO21 Nominating Committee.

Filling the position as Vice Chair of the AUTO21 Board is Mr. Stephen Beatty, Managing Director for Toyota Canada Inc.

Mr. Beatty and Mr. Dan Brooks, Senior Partner with Wellington Partners International Inc. and Chair of the AUTO21 HR Committee, have been re-elected for 3-year terms and will continue to serve as Directors on the Board.

Dr. Jeff Wood, an associate professor and the associate chair of undergraduates at the University of Western Ontario, has been elected researcher representative to the Board, replacing Dr. Brian Surgenor for the upcoming year.

Both Dr. Surgenor, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science at Queen's University, and Mr. Blake Smith, Director of Environment, Energy and Vehicle Safety for the Ford Motor Company of Canada Limited, have completed their term on the AUTO21 Board of Directors. In their service on the Board, Dr. Surgenor and Mr. Smith displayed dedication and leadership which won't soon be forgotten.

Thursday's meeting also marked the introduction of Mr. Jafar Albinmousa, President of the AUTO21 Highly Qualified People Advisory Committee and student at the University of Waterloo, as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors.
